Empire Theatres announces exciting new Cinema and Entertainment Complex for Markham, ONFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HALIFAX, NS, January 09, 2008 - Empire Theatres Limited, Canada’s second largest and fastest growing film and entertainment company announces today that it will begin development of a new state-of-the art 10 screen film and entertainment complex during the Fall of 2008 in Markham ON directly at the intersection of Markham Road (Hwy 48) and Major MacKenzie Drive East on lands owned by ECL Properties Limited. The construction of Empire Theatres Markham (approximately 41,000 square feet) blends entertainment with technology in a contemporary and unique design. The complex within the new retail development provides convenient access to residents of Markham and the surrounding areas and features plenty of well lighted, free parking. The design of the complex will permit future expansion as the market demonstrates the need for additional screens. Once fully operational in the Spring of 2009 (pending municipal approval process), this new and exciting complex will complement Empire Theatres 13 other Ontario complexes. The complex features an expansive lobby and10 luxury auditoriums with many new amenities for movie-lovers in Markham including luxurious high back seats (approx. 2100) each with a convenient cup holder situated within a flip-up arm rest and each auditorium featuring stadium-style seating for complete and unobstructed sight lines with loads of leg room, Dolby Digital Surround Sound and wall-to-wall curved screens for that perfect picture! Additionally, Empire Theatres Markham will feature the integration of DLP Digital Cinema Projectors providing crystal clear images!
