Average Review (6 reviews) SynopsisSet in Harlem in 1987, Claireece "Precious" Jones is a 16-year-old African-American girl born into a life no one would want. She's pregnant for the second time by her absent father; at home, she must wait hand and foot on her mother, a poisonously angry woman who abuses her emotionally and physically. School is a place of chaos, and Precious has reached the ninth grade with good marks and an awful secret: she can neither read nor write. Precious may sometimes be down, but she is never out. Beneath her impassive expression is a watchful, curious young woman with an inchoate but unshakeable sense that other possibilities exist for her.ProducersLee Daniels, Sarah Siegel-Magness, Gary MagnessUser Reviews To post a movie review, please login. All Reviewswandadigou thought it was SAD 2 weeks ago Lindseyandjohn thought it was EPIC 2 weeks ago Comments: Amazing Movie rollthedice 3 weeks ago Comments: This movie missed the mark for me as much as I wanted to like it. If the only way the director can help us recognize that the protagonist is a young black girl is through racist and stereotypical cliches (stealing a bucket of friend chicken?) then either you need more imagination or you're catering to an audience that accepts that type of garbage. Too much degradation and not enough uplifting moments for me to enjoy it as a real life type of movie. Not a good way tov promote social sensivity.
That being said I think Mo'nique will win the Oscar. She's almost as much of a shoe-in as Walz is for IB. celie-tabby thought it was FIERCE 1 month ago Comments: Haunting and heartbreaking that leaves your soul heavy. Powerful performances from Mo'nique and Sidibe. audreyc 1 month ago Comments: Great acting but distributing story. unknown4 thought it was DRAMZ 1 month ago
