Synopsis

This film, seen by over 1,300,000 people in Poland this year, is an epic tale about the life and martyrdom of Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, hero of the Solidarity movement, who was brutally murdered by the communist security service in October 1984. The film also reflects on the heady days of Solidarity as well as the shameful rule of martial law in Poland in the 1980s. “Popiełuszko” blends well into celebrations of the Year for Priests, and is an official event of the Archdiocese of Toronto’s Year for Priests committee.  More information can be found at www.catholicradio.ca
