Real Funny
If your going to go to this movie don't expect a laugh about comedy such as Knocked Up. Look forward to something with more drama but still funny. Thought that it could have been more compressed and not so long, but still it was good. This movie got a story line that most movies now lack. Adam Sandler gives a top notch performance and one of his top five movies of all time.
Lousy, Lousy Movie
I was almost to the walk out point a couple of times.
very vulgar and not a good story line ... not funny at all - well a couple of spots --- but more not funny than funny! don't bother wasting your money on this one. story line sounded good - the play out could have been so different...
Ok movie
i really enjoyed this movie, i thought it had a few laughs in it, but it really was more of a drama then a comedy
Don't listen to these guys
This is more of a drama than it is a comedy. It reminded my of The Trueman Show because a comedien plays a drama part, and does it well. I admit, if your going to see a comedy, don't see this, if you want to see a story about having a second chance at life, see this.
Good job Adam Sandler, you proved the point that even the funniest of people can play serious parts some times.
Peace Out!
Funny People
Did not find this movie funny at all. My biggest concern is all the vulgar language and this movie was not RESTRICTED. My 12 year old nephew went to see this movie. Are you telling me that this is fit language for a child?!
Know what you are getting into people
For all the negative comments I wonder who actually looked at the premise behind the movie before going. Yes its Adam Sandler, yes it was called Funny People but the promo clearly points out it is a retrospective on the value the character has placed in his life when confronted with death! What did you expect Happy Gilmore? Remember Jim Carrey in The Trueman Show Will Ferrel in Stranger than Fiction or Sandler himself in Reign over Me all highly rated drama's...they are slapstick comedians who can do more than crude humour.
Not worth the time and save your money
I've seen several Adam Sandler movies and this is his worst. Save your money and fine another movie thats worth watching.
Worth Seeing
I'm glad I didn't listen to the reviews here. This Drama/Comedy is more drama than comedy although i had a lot of laughs throughout. The audience really seemed to enjoy it as well. Adam Sandler's performance is his best in a long time. I'd give it 3.5 stars
should be called "marginally funny people"
the last hour was all drama with little humor, the beginning was pretty good, depending on how everyone else in the theater liked it, if they do it just seems funnier than it is.
not a complete waste of time and might have a few good laughs, but the other people here didn't seem to like it
Too long. First half was
Too long. First half was somewhat funny, but the last half sucked big time :( VERY disappointed!
NOT FUNNY!!! A MOVIE WE SHOULD HAVE WALKED OUT ON!!!
My husband and I are still trying to figure out why we watch this whole movie and didn't walk out and demand our money back. I guess we were hoping it would get better as it went along but we were very wrong. There was no improvement and if anything, it just kept getting worse!! All they knew how to do in this movie was swear and degrade each other. I saw no humor what so ever in this movie. All of the Actors and Acteresses who decided to take a part in this so called comedy should hang their heads in shame. We hope that we never have to watch anything like this again. If it does happen we will leave the movie and ask for our money back. I wish we had read the reviews before spending our money on this trash!!!!
Why is this movie not funny???
How could a movie about comedians with funny comedians not be funny?? I don't know how they did it, but they did. The movie was too long and was borderline depressing. On a bright note though, if you are a Seth Rogen fan, it is a good indicator of his success if Adam Sandler wants to make a movie with him. One to watch at home.
Disappointed
So disappointed in this movie. Adams movies are usually great but such a sham this was. Can't believe he would let his jewish heritage and name be used with such vulgarity. I am by no means a prude but took my jewish boyfriend after seeing hangover the night before which we laughed and laughed so you can imagine the disappoinment with this movie. Wish I had read the reviews before going. This movie doesn't deserve to stay in theatres any longer!!
Insert Raspberry Sound!
Sooo many good actors all collaborating, and the best they could offer was a ton of very lame penis jokes. I've sat through boring movies before, but I NEVER thought I would have to equate Adam Sandler with boring! I second every negative comment that has been made towards this movie. In fact, I'm not even going to give this movie any stars...oh wait, maybe one for a cameo appearance by eminem, ray romano...WAIT A MINUTE... THERE WAS NO ROB SCHNEIDER CAMEO!!!. That's it, no stars!
This movie is NOT funny, so boyz don't take yer gurlz.
I had a nightmare where I was forced to sit and watch a movie without an ending. Every time a ending appeared imminent the plot went backwards and restarted. When I realized I wasn't chained to the seat and indeed was not dreaming but watching 'Funny People' in a theatre, I planned my escape - I had to take a leak. The only funny part of the movie was the insane boredom and a scene with M&M and Ray Ramono.
not funny at all!!
I wouldn't recommend this movie. It was dragged on for about an hour too long. It had a few funny momments but not enough to make me ever want to see it again.
