SynopsisThe time is the too-near future. Powered and enabled by the invention known as the Great Machine, the world's machines have turned on mankind and sparked social unrest, decimating the human population before being largely shut down. But, as our world fell to pieces, a mission began to salvage the legacy of civilization; a group of small creations was given the spark of life by a scientist in the final days of humanity, and they continue to exist post-apocalypse. One of these creations, 9, emerges to display leadership qualities that may help them survive and possibly even thrive. It is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like himself taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.CastElijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer, John C. A feast for the eyes...
Tim Burton definately does his part for this movie (as he is known for movies that are far from ordinary) and the story does make you wonder and watch, just to see what happens next. But it could have been done better.
Make no mistake, I would recommend this movie to anyone, but the storyline could have been made longer instead of the out-of-place assault scenes and the curious, undefined characters.
In my opinion, you didn't get to know the character's personalities well enough. If there ws a prologue describing the professor more, then that could change things, but things in this movie just happened too quickly.
On the plus side, this movie is a good apocolyptic flick and I would see it again if I got the chance. But it lacks the more intreging storyline that I thought would be intact, and the character's personalities that would make it all worth while.
All in all, good movie, but could've been done better.
Peace Out!
Finally, an animated movie
Finally, an animated movie that isn't just for children. The setting was very impressive and the graphic work done was absolutely stunning. The story was intriguing and the characters carried the story along quite well.
My few criticisms for this movie would be that some of the characters weren't well developed enough and there were a few holes left here and there in the story. Also, it moved a little too quickly, but there wasn't anything that got you bored for a long time.
Overall, it was a great movie, and I recommend it to any fantasy/sci-fi fans or just movie fans in general. ^^
=D
