Empire Theatres is pleased to offer CaptiView, a personal in-theatre closed caption viewing device for deaf & hard of hearing movie audiences.

The CaptiView system transmits and receives encrypted closed captions on a wireless band frequency. With an 80 meter signal range, CaptiView can be used from ANY seat in the auditorium.

The CaptiView system consists of a small OLED display on a bendable support arm that fits into the cup holder. The easy-to-read screen can display three lines of text at a time and can support up to four languages.

The CaptiView system is available at select Empire Theatres locations for select films. Available locations are listed below.

How to tell which movies are CaptiView-enabled

• If visiting one of our locations, you can view a list of the current CaptiView-enabled movies at the Box Office.
• Showtimes Hover - hover over your preferred movie showtime and a hover will appear letting you know if this show is CaptivView Enabled:

How to request a CaptiView Unit

• Indicate to our Box Office staff you would like to borrow a CaptiView Unit (if the Box Office is closed, please request at Refreshment Counter)
• We will collect some basic information (name, phone number, performance and time) and request to view a photo ID before releasing the unit.
• Our Box Office staff will provide you with a unit that has been turned on and set to the proper settings for your film presentation.
• When your movie is complete, please return the CaptiView unit to the Box Office. If the Box Office is closed, please locate a staff member and return the unit to them.
